Wednesday - Club Run
(which was actually run on Monday)
Well - with absolutely no clue what I was going to do this evening, and having Ummm'd and Ahhhh'd all day about doing a Tempo session, or an Intervals Session - or maybe hills. In the end I just couldn't be bothered to get out and do something on my own...
And so in rode the Club like a majestic Heroic saviour...
(please someone - stop me)
and then all of a sudden there was 'Purpose' - a Quest, and Brave and Noble people to ensure that it was set upon! The three mighty warriors set forth, the initial strides being purposeful and straight backed. The cold air was bracing, The Pace was brisk, broken just briefly by a temporary barrier that halted our progress to allow a metal snake that had swallowed many a myopic person. But there was no time to dwell on their fate - there was a Quest at hand, and nothing, but nothing was to deviate us from our goal.
The barrier riased and we continued - a little more briskly now, for that delay had put us a little behind schedule.
(someone - anyone - stop this madness!!)
The first natural barrier to our progress then appeared - a hill of Deceptive length and incline - Undetered, we further increased our effort to overcome this obstacle, successfully and with a degree of satifaction we noted that it had not really slowed our progress.
We then took our very lives in our hands as we entered the Parkland that held the Royal Antlered Creatures that strode majestically and fearlessly in their realm. We passed more quickly, and as silently as we dared, so as not to disturb thier Royal Beastinesses. Having descended from the Royal Hill and the tension in the air having dissipated somewhat, we saw a long straight road, with a natural end, and we decided that this would be a fine time for we comrades in arm to have a small competitive joust - which comprised a long hard effort to determine the quickest and strongest of our number. And a fine competition it proved to be!
There followed a brief period of reduced speed in order that we might catch our breath - and the quest continued.
Along the Riverbank to the local town, and hence up a further natural barrier (at which we scoffed, for it's attempts to slow us were paltry indeed).
The end was in sight - the pace quickened - heart beat more quickly, lfeet pounded the ground at a much increased cadence. The finish loomed - the run became a sprint. And we finished!
Fine run this one - So glad I got dragged to Club for it!!
The Numbers!!!!!
Distance: 9.40 miles
Time: 1:10:47
Pace: 7:33 min/mile
AvHR: 168bpm
