Sunday - Birchwood 10K
...and "Ideal" Race Preparation!!!!
Ran the Birchwood 10K today
It was sunny..
and warm..
There was a light breeze..
It's a flat course (well, with a couple of teeny 'undulates' in it!!)
Ah yes.............
the preparation for a race thing..
When someone asks you if you want to go out for a "..for a reet good arse burner for tea?.." on the day before a race.. (having had a Zinger burger and Chicken sandwich thingy with fries and gravy from KFC for lunch, the conscientious runner would of course say.....
What time...??!!!
[chuckle]
And to follow it -
A private little 'hydration' party with carb loaded intoxification juice...
until 4am
Perfect!!!!!!!
Up at just before 9 (having not slept very much..!) and shake into life the lifeless forms that are supposed to be running today too..
Down a Litre of Orange Juice..
Then run your little legs off..!!!!!!
Here are the numbers..
Distance:- errr.. 10K (That's 6.21 miles in old money)
Time:- 42:38 on the watch (official result to follow)
Pace:- 6:40min/mile (4:14min/km)
AvHR:- 182 bpm (87% MHR)

Missed the the 1 & 4 Km markers as you can see - but you get the general idea
Enjoyed this - raced well - brill company - good food - a party.....
....then L'il Sis phoned this evening - she's coming over tomorrow for a 'recovery' run..
Actually - she's a bit injured and 'unfit' at the moment - so this will be slow and gentle - and it will be great to see her

Given the disarray at the finish I would go by your watch/Garmin time(s).
