Thursday - Weary now

I truly believe that the role of the PICU nurse is to help those we care for achieve a positive outcome...

For some that means that we do our thing, and they get better and leave us..

..for others - it means providing an environment in which they experience a gentle, calm and peaceful death.


Working with those patients is considerably more difficult - It is probably the purest form of what we do - so many things to think about, and balance and pitch exactly right.. and no matter how hard you try, you can only make so much difference....

I had one notable success today though... made 'Mum' laugh out loud..

Just the once..

Not bad for 13½ hours work.
